In More Detail:
Set in 3.5 hectares the three gîtes (cottages) and grounds have been converted from former farm buildings dating back to the early nineteenth century. The gîtes have between 2 and 3 bedrooms and have been renovated to a very high standard featuring a combination of contemporary French design and rustic chic. Each gîte has a private patio and grassed area to enjoy easy al fresco dining and there are communal indoor and outdoor play areas where the children can play safely and meet new playmates.
The former barn has been converted into a toddler’s play paradise including trampoline and ride-ons and behind the barn the former walled potager has been transformed into a securely enclosed outdoor play area with swingset and sandpit for the kids and sun loungers and hammocks for parents. Surrounding the potager is a paddock offering plenty of space for outdoor games and picnics with beautiful views across the rolling fields to Bayeux.
A short stroll will get you to the local store for groceries and a bakery serving fresh morning croissants. There is a good restaurant in the village and best of all you can be admiring the fantastic sea views less than 1 km away on foot. Blow those cobwebs away with a walk (or jog!) along the dramatic coastal path all the way to Port-en-Bessin or Arromanches. Alternatively take the winding road down to the pebble cove – a hidden treasure with plenty of scope for rock-pooling and crabbing.
Location:
Longues-sur-Mer is the ideal combination of coast and countryside. It is a traditional French village, not a resort, offering easy access to the sea with the space and calm of the countryside. Ideally situated between the pretty port of Port-en-Bessin and the historic town of Arromanches (both 5 minutes by car) there are shops and good restaurants within easy reach and the historic city of Bayeux is only 8km away. The local beach is a pebble cove and there are miles of unspoilt sandy beaches within a few minutes drive.
Accommodation:
Each gîte has a private outdoor terrace with shared access to the grounds and play barn. They have independent electric heating and each is equipped with everything listed in the Travel Light section of our website as standard. All stairs are protected top and bottom by stair gates.
