La Cour aux Bourgeois - Reviews

A sample of reviews independently verified by Baby-friendly Boltholes, babygoes2.com and Mumsnet about La Cour aux Bourgeois:

When we first read the description on the website, we thought it sounded too good to be true - then, we had the pleasure of discovering firsthand just why this gîte is so popular. It was love at first sight for all of us. The property is exactly how you would imagine a rambling stone French farmhouse to be and I was drawn to the lovely décor, the pretty curtains and quilts throughout and the beautiful stone floors and tiles. As the mother of a crawling baby, I was so relieved to find that the gîte is spotlessly clean - our daughter gave the floors an extensive road-test - and as child-proof as any house can be. The joy of this gîte is that it is able to cope with babies and active toddlers alike - which in turn means that parents get to enjoy far more of a holiday than at other cottage destinations. We left the gîte after one week having only visited half the places on our "wish-list" and regretting that we hadn't booked for a fortnight.” Babygoes2.com

"My family and I stayed 1 week at La Cour Aux Bourgeois - Gite 2 this summer and enjoyed ourselves so much we are coming back next summer for 2 weeks. We have 3yr old boys who were in heaven in the playbarn & garden throughout the week which made our holiday very relaxing! Everything you could ever need with a baby and toddler was supplied. The house and grounds were amazing. So many lovely places to visit on your doorstep. Our holiday exceeded all our high expectations." Baby-friendly Boltholes

"We had the most wonderful time. The gites are perfect for 3 families wishing to holiday together but also to have that essential private space away from each other and each others kids!!! We usually kept all the doors open and lived as one big house, and congregated in the big kitchen in Gîte 3 at meal times, warmed by the wood burning stove! We really enjoyed these times, all sitting round the big table: quite impressive for 6 adults, 4 children and 2 babies! I highly recommend this beautiful place, we will definitely be visiting again! It is beautifully decorated, fully equipped with all you could need, and extremely clean! Also Sarah and Laurent are lovely and really helpful, and only a phone call away should you need them!" "Sarah was the perfect hostess (she continually went above and beyond the call of duty) and the accommodation exceeded our very high expectations. We will most definitely be going back. It really was the perfect holiday for a couple with two toddlers in tow. Thank you!" Baby-friendly Boltholes

"We stayed for a week with our 15 month-old son, who was at the front door every morning itching to get to the play barn and sand pit. We felt at home in the superbly equipped gîte, and happily spent time in the beautiful communal gardens with other couples as the children played together close by. Sarah was great, and whilst the surrounding area was really lovely, we wanted to spend most of our time relaxing at La Cour Aux Bourgeois" Baby-friendly Boltholes

"We had a really wonderful first holiday with our little daughter. She loved all the toys and huge space – a baby bath, towels and even a tiny bath robe were all provided. The food we could pre order from a local restaurant was really good and the owners are very friendly providing a good unobtrusive service. We will definitely go back and perhaps take some friends next time." Baby-friendly Boltholes

"The Gite was beautiful, clean and very homely. It was great to have the soft play area and our oldest (3yrs old) loved playing with the other children. The "Tried and Tested" folder with details of family's personal experiences of local tourist spots and was invaluable in planning our days out. The food that we ordered from the local restaurant was very good and removed the chore of having to cook. We would highly recommend a holiday at La Cour Aux Bourgeois and in all likelihood will be returning there ourselves in the future." Baby-friendly Boltholes

"This was a brilliant holiday! We stayed for a week at the end of May and it was lovely. We are newcomers to the whole holiday + children thing so this was an excellent introduction. Our two little girls loved the play barn and the outside play area. The sleeping area was really snug and they slept like a dream (just what you want when you are on holiday!). I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. "

"We stayed at the gite for a fortnight and had a fabulous time. Our girls (2 and 4) loved the playbarn and the playground, and it was great to allow them to play safely within earshot of us. Having other children around was also a treat as they all made friends and spent a lot of time running around together - which wore them out before bedtime (wonderful). The gîte is very spacious and comfortable, full of literally everything you could need if you have children in tow. Plus the surrounding area is full of things to do with children so we were never bored. Highly recommended! "

“Our experience at La Cour aux Bourgeois was as memorable as others who have reviewed it. We had to wait until October until the property was available but even so we had a deliciously sunny week and the roads and ferries were quiet which was an added bonus. Sarah and Laurant made us feel  extremely welcome and our children are still talking about them, weeks after returning
home. Their attitude and approach to life makes for a happy, relaxing and unique holiday experience.” Babygoes2.com

"Just got back from a week here with our 19 month old son, and I wanted to to say how wonderful it was. The gîte itself was stylish yet comfortable, and contained every bit of baby equipment we could have possibly needed. The playbarn and garden were even more stuffed with toys than I was expecting, and our little boy just loved it. He was so exhausted from playing outside at the end of each day that he slept really well, meaning my husband & I also managed to recharge our batteries a bit. In short, this place delivers everything it promises and more, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone with small children as a great place to stay."

“We stayed in Gite 1, which was beautifully refurbished and decorated. All gîtes have everything you could possibly need for babies/children .. it all combines to provide a holiday destination that is relaxing and hassle-free for parents, and lots of fun for the children. Lots to do in the area, which is only about 35/40 mins drive from lots of beaches, very close to castles, zoos, lovely little towns etc. Highly recommended.”  Mumsnet

"I wish we’d had 2 weeks here to fit it all in. My eldest son cried when I said we were going home. And again, when we got home. He keeps asking when we’re going back. As soon as possible I hope! La Cour Aux Bourgeois is how holidays with children should be." Baby-friendly Boltholes

"We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it. Our youngest slept through for the first time at 11 months as soon as we got there, possibly due to the magic of the place or possibly due to the blackout blinds in her room which are an example of how the owners have thought of everything! Our eldest girl (then aged 4) loved the playbarn and the grounds. We loved the fact the place was safe for a crawler, was better equipped than home and the place was beautiful. Sarah was really helpful and the babysitting was really welcome. Bella who is now 6 recently asked when we are going back, she still remembers and talks about it 2 years later. What greater recommendation can you get!" Baby-friendly Boltholes

“Fantastic, beautifully kept gîtes, set it fantastic grounds. All gîtes are equipped everything you could possibly need for a toddler -you name it they've got it. Shopping can be arranged to be waiting in your fridge when you arrive, Lovely local chef-cooked meals available nightly, with a children's menu. Baby sitting also available. When you can prise the kids away from the play barn and garden  there is loads to do around the Normandy area, theme-parks, zoos, beaches, castles to name but a few. A great holiday for young kids and their parents.”  Mumsnet
